The challenge
The deck opened with eight slides of market sizing before reaching the product, and buried eighteen months of compounding revenue growth in a table near the end. Investors were forming an opinion long before the strongest evidence appeared.
Our approach
We reordered before we redesigned
The first working session produced no design at all. We rebuilt the argument on paper in the order investors actually read: problem, insight, product, traction, market, team, ask. Twenty-eight slides became fourteen, with the remainder moved to an appendix.
We let the traction chart carry a full slide
Eighteen months of compounding growth was the single most persuasive fact available. It became one uncluttered chart on its own slide, with the axis honest and the annotation minimal.
We built two versions for two contexts
A denser deck to send ahead, which has to stand alone, and a sparser one to present live, where the founder is the narration. Using one file for both jobs is the most common reason decks underperform.
The outcome
The founders reported that meetings shifted from explaining the business to discussing terms, and that the appendix answered most diligence questions without a follow-up call.
